I became a member of GFOA-PA a few years ago when I started working for Swatara Township. In 2019 I attended the conference at Penn State. Being fresh out of college, and new to the government finance world, the conference was a great experience. I had a chance to meet with people who were also new to government finance, people who had a lot more experience and advice to share, and vendors who I was able to meet at an informal setting. After the conference, I feel comfortable reaching out to other members for advice and guidance when needed. GFOA-PA members are welcoming and willing to share whatever they can to help make things easier for you. The amount of knowledge and resources I have gained from being a part of GFOA-PA is more than worth it. I will also say that just receiving the GFOA-PA emails alone are informational and beneficial. Different job and learning opportunities and resources are always included.

My GFOA-PA membership pays for itself by earning continuing education credits at the annual conference and making contacts to develop ideas that may better serve the community. Also, I save research time by asking questions of my peers on the Forum, and I can find many sample documents on the knowledge center.
